Help! I'm not getting the search results I expected!
For Book and Page Searches:
Click in the BOOK box - Carefully enter Book #
Click in the PAGE box- Carefully enter Page #
Click on GET PAGE - To view documents
Click on the printer icon located at the top left of the
displayed document to print the document ( available with any Netscape 4.7 browser version)
For Name Searches:
You will find these abbreviations used:
H Grantor - Human Name Grantor
NH Grantor - Non-Human or Business Name
H Grantee - Human Grantee
NH Grantee - Non-Human or Business Name
Very Important!
(SHIFT 8) OR "*" IS THE WILDCARD KEY TO FINDING ALL NAMES,
IF YOU DO NOT KNOW THE EXACT SPELLING.
For Example:
-- First Name --
J*
-- Last Name/Corporation --
Doe
The search above will return all
entries with a last name of Doe, and first name starting with J, such as Joe
Doe, John Doe, Jamie Doe, etc.
Click on the H Grantor or H Grantee button to perform the search.
When the computer searches for a name in the index,
the name has to exactly match the index entry, unless you use the wildcard
"*". The wildcard can be used any number of times in the search criteria.
For a Non-Human Name Search:
(Non-Human or Business / Corporate Name Search)
Make Sure the First Name Field is Blank. If something is there - delete that
Field. Click in the Last Name field and type the business name (John Doe Auto Sales
Inc.)
Click on the NH Grantor or NH Grantee button to perform the search. Remember you
can use the "*" here as well, such as "*Auto*" for any company with the word
"Auto" in its name, such as "AAA Auto Sales" or "Cleveland Auto".
After obtaining your list of search results:
Use Scrolling arrows to view all index entries, then
to view the document either click on the name in the search results
or enter the book and page from the indexes and
follow Book & Page Search directions from above.
To just see the grantors and grantees,
click on the X, to the left of the name in the search results.
The printer icon to the left to the X will print the results.
I can search and see the results, but there's nothing on the right side to view the image. What gives?
You need to install the Java runtime files as outlined below.
How do I
Install the Java runtime files in order to view the Images?
This webpage functions more efficiently with Netscape
Browser. This is a free download and includes the required Java runtime. Please
make sure that you choose the Full or Custom installation; the Typical
installation doesn't include the Java runtime files and you would have to do it
all over again.
to download Netscape for free.
Most other web browsers will require a new version of the Java Plug-In. It can be downloaded from: http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/download.html. Please read the instructions below before installation.
It's always best to check and make sure that you don't already have an older version of the Java Plug-In in your Control Panel, and if so, you will need to uninstall it before continuing from Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs. Go to http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/download.html, click on the link to "Download J2SE JRE", choose Accept and click on Continue, click on the second link under Windows Platform (not the Offline version), choose "Open" and go through the installation. Some computers may need to re-start for all of the changes to take effect. The next time you open up the Document Viewer page, if it asks you if you want to download and install anything, click "Grant Always". Since this is a newer version of the Java Plug-In, and a newer version of the Viewer page, it will take a while to load the first time, but should work quickly after it loads initially.
How do I Clear my Internet & Java Cache(s)?
- To do this in Internet Explorer 6.0, click on the Tools menu, and choose Internet Options. When the dialog box comes up, click on Delete Cookies, then Okay. Click on Delete Files, then Okay. Click on Settings, and make sure it is set to check for newer versions of the page on every visit to the page, then click Okay. Click on Clear History, then Yes. To finish, click on the Okay button at the bottom.
- To do this in Netscape 7.0, click on the Edit menu, and choose Preferences. Choose Navigator, History, and click on Clear History. Choose Privacy & Security, Cookies, click on Manage Stored Cookies, click on Remove all Cookies, and then Okay. Choose Advance, Cache, and click on Clear Memory Cache, and click on Clear Disk Cache.
- To clear the Java Plug-In cache, go to Control Panel, and double-click the Java Plug-In that you downloaded. Choose the Cache tab, and click on Clear.
What does the "Out of Memory" Error when Printing mean?
This means that the image file is too large for your computer to print; it's using up too much of your computer's memory. This happens sometimes when there is a lot of black in the image or if you are trying to print a large map. Use the icons at the top of the image to zoom in, or use your mouse to left click and drag open a box on the image to zoom in to, then use the second print icon at the top (with the picture of the eye) to Print the Current View.
What does "Sorry, that page is not available." mean?
Documents are scanned by the Register of Deeds office and then loaded onto the website. When a page is not available, it means that the document hasn't been scanned and/or loaded yet. The "All Books" link on the viewing page will show you what books are available on our web site.
